Laura Ruvolo Lipp is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney. She is also a family law mediator and trained family law Collaborative Divorce attorney. She has dedicated her entire legal career to the practice of family and matrimonial law.

Prior to attending law school, Laura taught kindergarten and first grade. Although she did not want to stay in teaching long-term, she loved working with children and families and decided to redirect her career to help them in a different way.

As the mother of two children with an assortment of “invisible” disabilities, Laura has a deep understanding of the realities of raising kids with special needs, the complexities and stresses of their families’ lives, and the special considerations such cases require.

After practicing family law for several years in other firms, Laura formed The Law Offices of Laura Ruvolo Lipp, LLC in February 2012. She was later joined by her sister, Melissa Ruvolo and Family Focused Legal Solutions, LLC was officially formed in June 2013. Laura loves the team and “family” she and Melissa have formed to comprise today’s Family Focused Legal Solutions.

Although Laura takes her role as her client’s trusted advocate extremely seriously, she makes it clear to her clients that she will not take or support a position that will harm the child involved, whether that harm be physical, emotional or psychological. She sometimes has to tell her clients to “love your kids more than you hate each other” and reminds them that this principle should be evidenced in all their behaviors, decisions and words when co-parenting with their ex. Although some family situations are far too complex for effective co-parenting to be successful simply through compromise, maturity and improved communication, it is absolutely possible in most families if both parties are committed to the best interests of their child.

Laura believes that every family law attorney must understand that they are involved with families for only one chapter of their lives and that the parents must heal their relationship enough to co-parent their child for the rest of their lives. If a family law attorney instigates and/or perpetuates conflicts rather than tries to resolve them, they are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

Laura’s work as a family law attorney has been recognized by Avvo, an independent legal organization. Her profile, references, peer endorsements, awards and recognitions, testimonials, and additional background information can be viewed here.

Life Outside the Office

Laura and her husband are the parents of two wild and crazy guys who never behave really well at the exact same time for more than 27 consecutive minutes. Because of this, Laura hates lamps, carpets, bathroom floors/walls and “family” events where everyone is expected to be quiet and still.

Laura has a Labradoodle named Kylie, and a geriatric Dachshund named Daisy. She spoils them even more than her children because they are always happy and never talk back.

Laura loves spending time on relaxing beaches even though she gets sunburned in the shade. If you have ever walked on a beach and spotted a middle-aged woman under an umbrella and yet still covered in towels, a large hat and sunglasses while smiling with a drink and a book in her hands, it was probably a legit Laura Ruvolo Lipp sighting.

Laura’s most common way to “relax” is to watch Hoarders, Fixer Upper or crime documentaries while folding laundry. Joanna Gaines is her imaginary best friend, though she does not have or want any signs in her house that say, “Farm Fresh Eggs” or “Live Bait.” She is also addicted to podcasts and You Tube videos about decluttering and organizing such as “A Slob Comes Clean,” “Clutterbug” and “The Minimal Mom.” If Laura is ever in your kitchen, she will exercise great restraint to resist searching for and discarding everything that is expired.

You May Not Know

  • Laura still “fits” into her bedazzled L.A. Gear jacket from 1988.
  • Laura has been to at least 13 New Kids on the Block concerts.  It’s no coincidence that her younger son’s name is Jordan, but her husband will deny the connection if you ask him.
  • Laura has been told that when she used to dress up like Madonna in the 80s, she really looked like Madonna.  This is true.   There is video to prove this.  She can do a fantastic kick ball change and dress you up in her love all day long.
